The Mayor demands an act of responsibility and State commitment to the political parties to maintain the 50% bonus of the IBI to those affected by the earthquake (03/04/2018)

This measure, which would save Lorca more than 7.2 million euros, depends on the approval of the general budgets of the State, which is currently blocked in the absence of only 5 votes.

The unlocking would also mean the arrival of another 3 million euros to execute new investments in Lorca.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has made a new appeal so that political parties with representation in the Congress of Deputies achieve the achievement of an agreement that allows to maintain the bonus of 50% of the Real Estate Tax (IBI), as well as the arrival of new investments amounting to 3 million euros for the execution of repairs of the very serious damages suffered by Lorca as a result of the earthquakes registered on May 11, 2011.

The First Edil explained that we are facing a truly critical moment towards the approval of these accounts.

The General Budgets for this year have already been presented at the Congress and have the support of the PP and C'S.

We are aware, at the same time, of the position of rejection that other parliamentary groups are expressing, but we are even more so than the Spanish, and in this particular case, the Lorca, we demand an exercise of responsibility and State commitment that is above of considerations and political postures.

It is time to agree and overcome stigmas of the past.

No one will understand, no matter how hard they try to explain it, that budgets do not go ahead due to blackmail, confrontations and partisan strategies.

The Spaniards, and especially the Lorca, we would see as a tremendous irresponsibility, even more so when the circumstance occurs that just need 5 votes for this city to maintain the bonus of 50% of the IBI.

The Mayor has stressed that Lorca are playing a lot with these General Budgets, and we all have to be aware of who is trying to unblock this situation and who are hindering.

This measure would directly benefit almost 44,000 Lorca, constituting the eighth consecutive year in which a bonus is achieved in this regard.

We are talking about leaving in the pocket of Lorca 7,263,678.66 euros, which Lorca would receive from the Government of Spain as compensation, as is already happening in recent years.

This request is supported by reports and notifications from the Local Tax Agency, as well as from the Cadastre and Municipal Intervention service.

The efforts made by the City Council have achieved that the victims of the earthquakes of 2011 have saved up to the moment almost 72 million euros, enjoying 3 years of total exemption from the payment of the tax and another 4 (including the current one) in which you only have to pay half of it.

The request made by the Local Executive urges that a new bonus of 50 percent of the Real Estate Tax payments corresponding to the year 2018 be granted, with the same requirements established for the exemption regulated in this Tax in article 12 of the Royal Decree Law 6/2011, of May 13, which adopted urgent measures to repair the damage caused by seismic movements occurred on May 11, 2011 in our city.

As planned, the bonus would apply to the resulting fee to apply.

The decrease in income established in this provision in the City of Lorca will be compensated with charge to the General State Budgets, in accordance with the provisions of article 9 of the revised text of the Law Regulating the Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5. In the case of the bonus in the Tax on the Increase in the Value of the Urban Land, a 50% bonus is claimed that would be applied to the resulting installment, in your case, the rest of bonuses legally provided.
