The PSOE denounces the abandonment of the district of Coy and reminds Gil Jódar that the districts are also Lorca (13/04/2018)

In the plenary session of February 2017, the Mayor himself assumed a personal commitment to, in a period of no more than 8 months, to value and give a new "useful and efficient" use to the Coy Ecopark facilities.

Time, says the socialist mayor, has shown that the word of the then councilor of Limusa, today Mayor, was a lie, because these facilities continue to be the vandalism, neglect and lack of responsibility with public money.

The deputy spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Marisol Sánchez has returned to give voice to the neighbors of Coy, harmed by the lack of municipal attention.

The mayor regrets that the eleven years of government of the PP have been translated for Coy in eleven years of abandonment and contempt, which have resulted in the "massive flight" of inhabitants outside the district.

The local indignation in the district was evident in a crowded open meeting that the PSOE held last Monday, and attended by more than fifty neighbors.

In it, the PSOE committed to recover the investment in districts, cut by the Popular Party, for whom "the districts do not seem to be Lorca."

Sánchez Jódar denounces that Gil Jódar, following the tonic of the one left by the mayor's office, still does not comply with the word given to the residents of the parish through the motions that the Plenary of the City of Lorca, at the initiative of the PSOE, has been unanimously approving concrete measures for the creation of employment in the district, economic revitalization or maintenance of public infrastructure.

The mayor says that the reluctance with which the PP works for Coy reaches the point that, the only investment made in 11 years for the settlement of Sastre Street has come to be paralyzed for more than a year, wrapped in a controversy with the one that the Popular Party has tried to face the neighbors themselves.

For months, the PP has on the table the unanimous agreement of the Plenary, which requires them to assess and repair each and every one of the deficiencies that exist in the municipal facilities, such as, the Local Social, the Sports Court and the changing rooms ;

facilities whose status shows the years of abandonment and lack of maintenance.

Little or nothing has been learned from the study to which the PP, also at the request of the PSOE, undertook to carry out the most suitable destination for the Coy Ecopark;

facilities in which the PP, without consulting the neighbors, spent 208,000 euros to abandon them after its inauguration.

The Mayor himself made a personal commitment to, within a period of no more than 8 months, to value and give a new "useful and efficient" use to the Coy Ecopark facilities.

Time, says the socialist mayor, has shown that the word of the then councilor of Limusa, today Mayor, was a lie.

It has been 14 months and nothing has been done in these facilities that continue to be the vandalism, neglect and lack of responsibility with public money.

Regarding the recovery of the Coy International Labor Camp, Sánchez Jódar assures that they will remain "very vigilant" to ensure that the commitment to resume this initiative is achieved next summer, as the PSOE has been claiming.

The mayor recalls the "continuous and constant" work that the PSOE has maintained over the past few years, through motions to the Plenary Session of the City Council and of writings addressed to the Mayor's Office, to resume the international labor camp, eliminated by the Popular Party.
