Adoración Peñas, councilor of IU-Verdes de Lorca has requested that the government team plan a cultural and leisure action plan in districts during the summer period.
The mayor, remember that our municipality is characterized by an extensive network of districts, with a large territorial dispersion, as well as an enormous diversity between its different corners, from the unique and characteristic districts of the north, through the heart of the orchard or the southern littorals.
Peñas has criticized the systematic neglect to which this government team has condemned the districts and their inhabitants, not only in terms of infrastructures and investments, but also in relation to social, cultural, and equipment and resources aspects, some claims that the neighbors of all the districts have manifested in different occasions in the form of complaint and denunciation, without receiving any solution on the part of those who govern.
From the formation of left remember that the districts represent three quarters of the municipality and say that you can not treat the residents of rural areas as second class citizens.
Peñas makes these affirmations after emphasizing the lack of investments, resources and activities that they suffer in the districts as a whole.
For this reason, the mayor has asked the mayor that now is the time to plan and design an action plan for the summer in districts in order to revitalize them with the arrival of good weather, a plan that includes playful activities for all age groups and population sectors, counting on the different associations of neighbors, women, youth and pensioners of each district, thus favoring citizen participation in the attempt to not let rural areas die during the summer.
Peñas affirms that the rural potential of Lorca is very important, not only for tourism purposes, but also for economic, cultural and social purposes, and municipal investment can not be limited to supporting or promoting the parties of each district for a few days a year.
In this sense, the councilor affirms that the evenings and summer nights are conducive to organize sports, cultural and leisure activities without the need to invest a huge amount of money (summer cinemas, street theater, friendly matches, games contests table, storytelling, etc.), and argues that a municipality like Lorca, can not limit its limited activity during July and August to the urban center, forgetting the suburbs and the rural area.
