The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, and the president of the Association of Deaf People of Lorca and Region "Aspersolor", José Carlos Sicilia, have presented the third edition of the Festival of Short Films in Sign Language honoring their motto "The different culture" that will take place on April 28 from 9 o'clock.

Agustín Llamas pointed out that "in this event 16 shorts will participate at the state level and will be screened at Acec Almenara Cinemas, located in the Parque Almenara Shopping Center." The festival, which takes place in our city for the third consecutive year, will be a great challenge, an opportunity for the promotion of art and culture of our territory, it is worth mentioning that directors and actors with auditory deficiencies from different parts of Spain will be moved to our city: Barcelona, Madrid, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Granada and Tenerife, among others, the entrance will cost 12 euros ".

The Councilor for Culture has indicated that "the main objective of this Short Film Festival is to give visibility to deaf people and the Sign Language within the cinematographic world, as well as to promote an integration in the world of the listener cinema and the recognition of actors, actresses and deaf film directors, whose work is of excellent quality.

Llamas, in this sense, has highlighted "the interest of the Lorca Consistory to bring culture to people with disabilities, adapting the offer to their needs, while we turn culture into a wonderful channel of solidarity and social integration. It gives us the opportunity to continue building part of our dreams, because communication barriers make us isolate ourselves from a world in which we want to participate with all our strength. "

In the same way, he stressed that "although it seems that this festival is an activity for deaf people, it is not exclusive, but since the films will have subtitles, the contents can be accessed without any difficulty".

El Edil de Cultura, finally, said that "the contest will also have an awards ceremony in which the winners will get 150 euros. The awards will be for the best short film, best actor, best actress, best director and best script , among other categories. "
