The Socialist Councillor Maria Ponce proposed today that the municipal cleaning company LIMUSA participate in the process of collection for thermal blanket which covered the summer crops in Lorca, mainly melons and watermelons, and other agricultural waste.
Ponce pointed out that no company currently responsible for managing this waste in the Region of Murcia.
For this reason, the mayor dismissed the demonstrations PSOE Councillor for Agriculture of the Municipality of Lorca, Angel Mecca, who has assured that there is environmental risk and that farmers, cooperatives and industry representatives "have solved the problem."
Ponce said that Mecca is a very serious attempt to communicate with millstones farmers "who now are being forced to build the thermal blanket on their farms without any way to get rid of them."
The PSOE requested that farmers be allowed to carry almost 90 tonnes of thermal blanket, which are used annually in the garden of Lorca, the center of Barranco Hondo waste, from which proceed to its management as an intermediary company.
The mayor recalled that once the City facilitated the signing of an agreement through which LIMUSA intermediary between farmers and ranchers and a specialized company for the collection and management of medical waste.
