The Councillor for Employment and Local Development of the City of Lorca, Lali Ibarra, has announced that "this year we are undertaking the refurbishment of 53 streets in the Barrios Altos, worth 3 million euros."

Ibarra explained that "in particular have already completed the actions planned in 18 streets, works are underway in 15 track and in the coming months work will begin in 20 other streets of the Santa Maria, San Cristobal, San Juan , San Pedro, San Lazaro and Calvary. "

Ibarra explained that the objective is to improve the quality of life and services of the inhabitants of the districts, improving access to housing and infrastructure serving the area, such as electricity, water supply, sanitation, gas or enlightenment, not to mention the pavement and, in some cases street furniture. "

Lali Ibarra pointed out that "some of the works that are running are very advanced, as being done in the Calle José María Zarauz, to be completed in late August, once the asphalt can proceed."

José María Zarauz Street is a main artery of the district of San Lazaro, in which the city of Lorca is investing over 149,000 euros to expand its sidewalks, bury containers, all infrastructure renewal.

Among the works to begin in the coming months highlights reform Calles Pedro Egea, Painter Villanueva, four grenades, Abellán and Cabezo the first phase of Los Vélez, together with the second phase of the streets Jaime Campos, Cross St. Pedro, Ibanez and Mecca, once you complete the first phase, which is currently running.

The Councillor pointed out that "with these investments in improved road infrastructure are making other improvements to our heritage and social integration programs of the population, which will add an annual investment of more than 6 million euros."

These investments are in addition to works to improve basic infrastructure undertaken in 2009 of about 50 streets and little squares of these neighborhoods Lorca, who along with social projects and other activities in the area also exceeded the 6 million euros.
