The socialist mayor Isabel Casalduero recalled the absolute lack of interest that the current government municipal People's Party provides all the issues related to culture.

Casalduero said he was stunned by the apathy displayed by municipal officials, to contrast with the Government Office that the city of Lorca has not requested any project under 1% of the Ministry Cultural Development in the three-plus years of government the current municipal corporation.

The obvious institutional neglect is embodied in projects like the rehabilitation of the Palace of Guevara, whose funding from the 1% would have allowed the recovery of a unique local heritage, as has happened with the recent restoration work carried out in War Theater.

Socialist Councillor pointed out that, from the ranks of his party, had offered to broker with the Ministry to secure funding to rehabilitate this important area of our City.
