Municipal officers located 35 Cannabis plants over 2 feet high while conducting surveillance in this rural area.
The operation has resulted in five people arrested.
The Councillor for Citizen Security of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez, has reported that local police officers of Lorca, members of the Special Units of Public Safety (UESCARM), in collaboration with Civil Guard of Puerto Lumbreras, dismantled on 23 August 5 marijuana plants in the landscape of the parish's Corner Almendricos, within the municipality of Lorca.
The agents had knowledge of the facts by checking, when patrolling the area, the existence of several very leafy plants that apparently were 'Cannabis Sativa', planted outdoors in a greenhouse, and in areas adjacent to several homes.
After several investigations located a total of 35 plants 'Cannabis Sativa', most of them of great size with a height greater than two meters.
The total weight of the total plants seized 109 kilograms, and its value on the black market is estimated at 87,745 euros.
The mayor explained that all those involved were taken to Civil Guard of Puerto Lumbreras, who leads the investigation of these facts, the result of which have been charged as suspected of a crime against Public Health 5 people living in the hamlet almonds, which have been made available to the Judicial Authority.
The City Council Public Safety Local Police commended for this important action, highlighting the work done to prevent the commission of such crimes, emphasizing the collaboration between local police and Guardia Civil.
