The 50 and older may enroll in Senior Hall, University of Murcia (02/09/2010)

One hundred age 50 may be formed in general education, computer and language skills through this program at the University of Murcia and Lorca Town Hall, 20 students more than last year.

This training aims to university degree programs in personal development skills and values from the perspective of learning throughout life.

The Councillor for Education and the City University of Lorca, José Joaquín Peñarrubia, this morning reported that over 50 years of the municipality may register until September 10 for courses for the new schedule of 2010/11 from Senior Classroom 10 to 13:00 in the Department of Education, located at City Hall.

This training program offers this year a hundred places, representing an increase of a score on the bid last year.

The Senior Hall is an offer interdisciplinary university which seeks to promote personal development skills and values, from the perspective of learning throughout life, which is structured in four academic years.

Peñarrubia explained that "a collaborative effort of the council with the University of Murcia, interested persons may enroll in this second phase of registration, the title itself of the Senior Studies program at the University of Murcia and in its advanced ".

José Joaquín Peñarrubia explained that "students may choose to attend one, several or all subjects of one of these two programs, receiving training in general education or additional skills such as computer and English."

The overall objective of the Senior Hall to improve the quality of life for people over 50 years through knowledge.

This aim is achieved by taking into account specific objectives such as to provide students with a university education to provide the knowledge, procedures and methodology necessary for the proper development of autonomous learning.

It also promotes a better understanding of the environment to get more out of the leisure facilities (cultural, physical, intellectual ,...) that society offers.

It also is intended to contribute to the process of continuous adaptation by the rapid changes that characterize our times, and provide the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences in the interaction of various working groups, to get new experiences that enhance the utility of each participant own society and educational system feedback through already trained and skilled.

To meet these objectives, each of the subjects have a teacher coordinator, although its specialized classes taught classes about 50 professors from the University of Murcia.

Tuition scholarships

The cost of tuition varies depending on the number of subjects in which the student enrolls, for each of the subjects are paid about 20 euros.

However, you can apply for scholarships covering between 50 and 100% of tuition, depending on family income.
