Manuel Soler set a priority of government in job creation (27/09/2010)

The agricultural cooperative Manuel Soler is now, officially, the PSOE candidate for Mayor of Lorca.

In a press conference that has been embraced by more than fifty activists of the Socialist Group in Lorca, Manuel Soler says his top priority is job creation in the municipality.

In that regard, he recalled that when the PP came to local government in 2007, Lorca had 2,510 unemployed citizens, a strike could be called "technical" as Sun City was a national benchmark for its high employment rates.

Just over three years later the figure has increased by over 200% and today there are 7,568 unemployed Lorca and Lorca.

Socialist candidate for the 25 million that the Government of Spain has been consigned to Lorca through E Plan has not been a priority the creation of jobs for the government team of Francisco Jodar.

As noted, the council, which is the promoter of the works, "has not controlled the desirable and, in many cases, staffing levels have been well below what was agreed in the terms and conditions."

Also criticized many of the awards was made to companies outside or matters relating to "closeness, friendship or kinship."

Moreover, the crisis in the construction sector has been compounded by the lack of initiative of the City that could have developed a promotional plan for public housing would have the dual purpose of stopping the destruction of employment in the sector and facilitate access to housing in the town's youth group.

Furthermore, the PP has joined the regional government's strategy of boycotting the Law Unit, which would have generated around 500 jobs in Lorca, especially in the female.

More than three years after the entry into force of the Act, the regional government is unregulated home care as a service covered by the Law Unit.

This means, unproductive expenditure that does not generate jobs or services, and increase the chances that the financial amounts received by beneficiaries of the Act serve to generate pockets of undeclared work through hiring people who develop domestic services under conditions poor and without a contract, said Manuel Soler.

The PSOE candidate for Mayor of Lorca said that the priority of local government will be creating jobs through ten main pillars of which the first deals with the construction of around 500 housing and other 300 to spend on a rental basis at low cost to young people, generating more than 1500 jobs in the construction sector.

The remaining proposals are focused on the need to tap other sources of employment as those related to local services, tourism, social economy, the promotion of industrial sites, creating a table between City and business to follow , revitalization and promotion of commercial areas or to the streamlining of procedures, openings and procedures relating to the Planning Department.

Manuel Soler also addressed issues such as the acceleration of payment to suppliers by the Consistory.

Also, put special emphasis on education as a fundamental change in the local development model.

He said, inter alia, that Lorca can not give to have a first class university campus and the establishment of a medical college and a pharmacy should be a priority for the municipality of Lorca.

In this regard, the Socialist candidate said the current mayor, Francisco Jodar is not making sufficient efforts to do so.

"We know it is a demand for lorquina society and virtually 100% of the institutions and representative organizations from the standpoint of political, economic and social development. It remains the commitment of the PP government team," he added Soler.

Finally, with regard to agriculture, Manuel Soler has ensured that the Eagles-Guadalentín desalination could involve the creation and consolidation of another thousand jobs and many farmers now grow a little and poor water quality could improve the performance of their land, expand their production and lose their fear of investing.

In that regard, he regretted that the PP is not because the irrigators Hinojar, watering places, Puri, Listen, La Campana, Pozo fig, almond or Rivera, normalize the situation of their farms, totaling 17,000 hectares.

According to the Socialist candidate irrigators in these areas need the resources of the Eagles-Guadalentín desalination, because the aquifer that are supplied are overexploited, and the little water available is expensive (up to 60 céntimos/m3) and very salty.

"That is very serious that the PP attack the interests of the neighbors who would defend and try to torpedo this infrastructure," he lamented Soler.

In another vein Manuel Soler said that face the process of drafting the electoral list "without mortgages or fees of any kind" and that he intended to go along with "highly qualified men and women with strong management capacity" because it is "what Lorca needs."
