The Socialist Councillor Isabel Casalduero denounced today the execution by the City of stairs that connect the Mecca and Oliver streets in the Barrio de San Cristóbal, which are the subject of neighborhood protest.
These steps, which when completed will have 16 narrow steps and a significant slope, coming to replace other only six steps and much greater width which facilitated the transit of seniors who frequent access.
"From now on, older people can not climb these stairs, which can be accessed even with a cart," said Isabel Casalduero, who recalled that the remodeling project did not contemplate the replacement of stairs.
Besides posing a potential risk of falls, the work violates the basic principles of accessibility for its users.
In his public appearance, the mayor was accompanied by a dozen residents of Mecca Street who expressed their outrage that the PP government team did not consult with them this action will undermine their quality of life.
So far, the victims have collected more than 50 signatures to City Hall undo the work and then leave the stairs "as they were."
To Casalduero this is another example of how to govern "with his back to the citizens" of the PP Mayor, Francisco Jodar.
Straight, asked the mayor to meet with neighbors and provides a solution to this problem that has them worried.
