The Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, gathered yesterday in Valencia special award to the Association for the Recovery of Historic Centres of Spain (ARCHIVAL) has granted the Consistory, having made the historic center of the city in one of the best in the country.
Montiel acknowledged that this entity, which ensures the preservation of historic art around the country and public interest has been declared by the Ministry of Interior, valued the equity interest of Lorca, and the work being done by the City Council to its value.
Francisco Montiel stressed that "from the Town Hall is making a major effort to improve the streets and squares of our old town, as the streets of Spain and Cardinal Belluga Cano, and streets in Alamo, Lope Gisbert, Santo Domingo, Admiral Aguilar , Fernando V, Espin, Nuñez de Arce, .... "
"While we are recovering our heritage, to the rehabilitation of the Collegiate, the Uptown churches, the church of Santiago, the medieval walls, the Palace of Guevara, the Theater War ..." said the deputy mayor.
The mayor stressed that "we are also making an effort to bring life and services to this area of the city, with the future artisan district, home of the woman, the new municipal archives, the future Hall of Justice ...."
The granting of this award was agreed unanimously at the Annual General Meeting of this organization and took place yesterday afternoon at the Auditorium of the Centro Cultural Bancaja.
The event was supported by the Regional House of Murcia in Valencia.
