The president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), Charo Quesada, today visited the town of Lorca, where he checked the status of the cleaning and maintenance of channels managed by the basin organization with the objective of ensuring proper drainage capacity for possible cold episodes of gout.
The overall investment made in this work since 2004 reached the figure of EUR 1,641,965.06.
For the year 2010, CHS is planning to invest 370,000 euros in several performances, including in the wadis of the swamp and Bejar, and in the Vélez River (upper course of Guadalentín) to the altitude of La Parroquia.
The latter is ascribed to the emergency actions to prevent possible damage from high intensity rainfall.
The stretch of river on which it has acted (2 miles) a large amount of weeds and vegetation that significantly reduce the useful section of the river Vélez drain.
The section of the performance ranges from 300 meters upstream from the town of La Parroquia, up to 500 meters downstream of the skimmer.
Also, we have proceeded to load, transport and delivery in the landfill of municipal solid waste deposited on the bed.
With regard to the Rambla del Pantano, is repairing the masonry walls and jetties, as well as building buffers and clean bowls channel reeds, as has been done on a stretch of 1,500 meters from the Rambla de Bejar.
The other actions planned for this year are the maintenance and conservation of river environment of the boardwalk and the river Guadalentín Ramonete, improving the hydraulic capacity of the streams drain of The Mancos (Diputación de La Torrecilla), La Galera (La listening) and Salada, and the riprap protection on the left bank of the gully of Carcasses (Rio)
It then details the actions undertaken in the municipality of Lorca by annuities and investment in parentheses:
2004 (373,662.06 euros):
- Protection of rubble from the Rambla de Romi, downstream from Bridge of the 17 Eyes.
- Fitting of the ravine near Salado Population Zarcilla Palm.
- Cleaning of reeds, reeds, weeds and removing trash and debris Ramonete Rambla, Tips Calnegre area.
- Draft design of side roads and low water channel in the stretch between Santa Gertrudis and La Fontanilla, in the river Guadalentín.

- Cleaning of weeds and debris on the Ramblas in Los Peñones, Pichichi, Cemetery and Bejar on an approximate length of 2.55 meters.
- Preparation and cleaning of reeds, reeds and weeds in the Boulevards of Bujescal Currucales and a total length of 3.3 km
- Cleaning of weeds and debris from Las Ramblas and Tiata Ladies, for a total length of 2.7 km
