Manuel Soler Jódar alleges that the City has not been able to meet its commitments to farmers for construction of the abattoir (09/11/2010)

The mayoral candidate for the PSOE, Manuel Soler, has today accused the mayor of the PP, Francisco Jodar, who has been unable to play in the last three and half years the two key commitments that the City has with the society that promotes construction of the new slaughterhouse.

Specifically, the municipal government team Jódar not completed the steps to downgrade the site where the actual slaughter, town planning essential to obtain Lorca Food Group of 17 million euros for the final sale of the land and fund important part of the new infrastructure of the meat industry.

In 2005, the City Council, with the abstention of the PP, approved a planning agreement for the place that will free the current building of the abattoir (along the road to Caravaca de la Cruz, in a commercial area of the city) to build about 1,500 homes.

But five years later still unfinished red tape permitting, which reduces the purchase and sale of land between farmers and entrepreneurs promote the construction of residential development in the area and that once forward four million euros to take over that plot.

Moreover, the Council also agreed to make available Lorca Food Group of 82,000 m2 plot at the site of Serrata in developed land, water, electricity, sewerage and other services.

However, this has not been met by the municipal government as Jódar Francisco Serrata is undeveloped land and offered at the site of Saprelorca have been discarded by the engineers who developed the project since it does not comply with health guarantees or with the technical requirements, as explained Manuel Soler.

Manuel Soler also regretted that the paralysis to which the municipality of the PP has put the project has resulted in the loss of a regional grant of 9 million since the Government pledged that helps regional food group Lorca always at 31 December was executed on 20% of the project.

However, Manuel Soler recalled that the promoters of the slaughter have "financial provision" to tackle the project.

Thus denied claims Jódar Francisco who has consistently blamed the farmers that the project not go ahead.

The socialist candidate for mayor also expressed his surprise at the announcement of the municipal government spokesman, Eulalia Ibarra, that the City Council who would build the slaughterhouse.

In this respect Manuel Soler has asked where Ibarra thinks out 40 million euros will cost construction and which account for half the municipal budget for 2011 if the city of Lorca also is news because it does not have to pay the electric bill .

Manuel Soler also announced that if May wins municipal elections in less than a year the farmers provide the land for construction of the abattoir. "In that sense said that this project is" priority "because Lorca can not miss a historic opportunity be done with an investment that cost 40 million euros and will guarantee at least 400 jobs and will maintain small farmers.

Asked about rumors that point to other nearby municipalities have offered to hold the meat industry, Manuel Soler has recognized that it is true that Food Group has received bids for a project is "desirable" for any City Hall.

But Soler has said he will fight for the seat of the slaughterhouse is Lorca and no other as defenders of the workers as the company prefers.
