The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar receive this recognition of the efforts of the City for all Internet users can use many services, regardless of their physical or functional limitations.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, and Councilman Information Society, Joaquin Ruiz, received the award this morning SIDAR "Designed for all" of 2010 which recognizes the design of the municipal web page, under criteria that favor access to content to all Internet users.

The award was presented by Emmanuelle Gutiérrez y Restrepo, Director of the Foundation Sidar and Coordinator of Latin American Seminar on Disability and Accessibility on the Web, in recognition of the efforts that the city of Lorca is made to bring new technologies to all citizens.

"The Internet has become more than a useful tool for many sectors of society and therefore it is imperative that we harness the Internet to facilitate any type of management. But it must be especially for a large segment of the population by their physical limitations , functional or type of device you use, you have problems accessing the network, and we work every day, "said the mayor.

Lorca is working strongly on web accessibility, with particular attention to the local page of "lorca.es."

Jódar explained that "in April presented a new design, which makes clear the desire to improve their accessibility, including a mobile version of their own, as it is shown that more and more users access the Internet from these terminals."

"The ultimate goal we wanted to achieve with this new design was precisely to make the website more accessible to all users, regardless of the circumstances and the devices involved in gaining access to information. Because everyone is entitled to benefit from the virtues of the information society, without any factor reducing its ability to accessibility. And, in the light of this recognition, we believe that we have achieved, "added the mayor.

Francisco Jódar recalled that "in recent years the municipal websites have adapted to the criteria set by the W3C - the World-Wide Web Consortium, the international community whose main goal is to have all the benefits of Internet are available to any user. In this sense, the city of Lorca is conducting a smooth and fruitful collaboration in recent years with the CENTIC, the Technology Centre of ICT in the Region of Murcia, on various projects related to the world of accessibility.

On the other hand, the Consistory lorquino by the Autonomous Community organized the ICT Conference for Social Welfare and Health, aimed at promoting technologies for a life not dependent, that were a resounding success for all three editions share held.
