The town celebrated on Friday the fourth edition of "Living Library" (15/12/2010)

It is an activity developed by the municipality, in coordination with "Intercultural Cazares, Office of Youth and Cultural Diversity Pilar Municipal Library Barnes.

Lorca's mayor, Francisco Jodar has reported that the city council, in partnership with the Intercultural Cazalla and the Office of Municipal Youth and Cultural Diversity, will develop an activity called "Living Library."

This is a pioneering initiative in Spain, which also actively participates Pilar Barnes Municipal Library and this year is organized for the fourth time in Lorca.

The event will take place on Friday December 17, agreeing that the 18th is International Migrants Day.

The "Living Library" works as a library to use, with the difference that the books are people who could cross the street any day.

It appears as a unique opportunity to meet different societal realities in which we live, exchange views and learn from others.

Fighting prejudice

In other editions have covered topics such as prejudice and stereotypes that accompany certain groups invited to participate as "Books" to prostitutes, exdrogodependientes, immigrants of different nationalities, gays, Buddhists ... also addressed issues such as violence, edition to which People were invited some time in their life suffered.

This year, building on the International Day of Migrants invite people of different nationalities living in Lorca, many of them unthinkable for many of us to tell us his story, what they do, how is your life in our town, their problems, why they came, what their expectations are ... giving us the opportunity to get to know our new neighbors, those who made the long journey to our city.

The Living Library will be open on Friday December 17 from 17:00 h to 21:00 h and will be held in Plaza Real, in front of the Municipal Library Pilar Barnes.
