The Minister of Environment, Rural and Marine Lorca visit this spring (14/02/2011)

The candidate for mayor of Lorca, Manuel Soler, has started a commitment to visit the Eagles desalination plant, executed at 95%, and to inaugurate the modernization of irrigation of Cazalla, Marchena and Tamarchete.

All these works exceed an investment of 300 million euros from the Ministry who runs Rosa Aguilar

Because of the PSOE's Municipal Convention was held this weekend in Seville, the Socialist candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Manuel Soler, held a meeting with Minister of Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, Rosa Aguilar, who pledged to Sun City visit this spring.

All these works exceed an investment of 300 million euros from the Ministry led by Aguilar.

The works carried out in Marchena have made a total investment of 22 million euros, and has involved the placement of 4,260 meters linear pressure pipe in place and 5,396 meters breaststroke linear pipeline and the construction of 19,960 meters of roads service.

The next area has been completed is the Rambla, where 66,351 meters have been installed pressure pipe linear, linear drains 22,328 meters, 6,635 meters linear armbands, and 41,852 meters have been built linear service roads.

The investment amounts to 34.5 million euros.

Then came the turn and Tamarchete Cazares, whose modernization works represented an investment of EUR 21,132,081.90.

The work includes the placement of 28,504 meters linear pressure pipe and 16,863 meters of pipe linear armbands, and the construction of 20,134 meters of service roads.

In this project include additional works at the request of the irrigators themselves, which basically consisted in the piping of ditches in the murky waters Cañarejo armband, as well as the widening of the road Feli armband in order to facilitate the flow of traffic and improve safety levels in the area.

Lorca Irrigation covers an area of 11,782 hectares and has about 8,000 villagers, and is located in the river valley and a small alluvial Guadalentín partner.

Water resources that sustain it come from the regulated water reservoirs Valdeinfierno and Bridges, the pumping of groundwater, water transfer redotación of the Tagus, and to a lesser extent, the granting of treated wastewater generated in the .

The modernization of irrigation in Lorca

The Government of Spain, during the periods 1990-1995 and 2004-2010 has invested over one hundred million euros to modernize 90 percent of irrigation Lorca.

The modernization of irrigation in Lorca began in 1990 when he finished work on Velopache, which investment amounted to 2,774,383.67 euros, putting 13,020 meters of pipe fitted linear and 11,500 meters of roads built to service.

Later, in 1993, the Government of Spain completed the modernization of irrigation works of the turret, which received an investment of 1.9 billion euros, and contemplated the linear placement of 9,691 meters of pipe and construction of 8,800 meters service road.

Later, in 1995, EUR 10,812,255.85 was invested in the modernization of irrigation in La Hoya, putting 78,530 meters linear pipeline and 35,500 meters linear building service roads.

Finally, other actions taken to improve the irrigation of Lorca (Cabezo Raft of the Lions, improving irrigation wells, driving clear water from the reservoir of Bridges, among others) have meant an investment of 7,090,049 euros.

Tercia Modernization

In Lorca only awaits the modernization of irrigation Tercia area, which costs 25 million euros.

In this case, on Tuesday convened a meeting there in the village, where the president of the Southern and Eastern Seyasa, Manuel Ariza, inform farmers about the progress of the project, which covers 1,200 hectares and includes the placement of 43,296 meters linear pressure pipe and 14,704 meters linear armlets, and the construction of 25,617 meters of service roads.

Manuel Soler, through his position as chairman of the Community Lorca Irrigation Ministry has committed to funding this work will be completed with 100% irrigation modernization of Lorca.
