Lorca loses Mediterranean Food City (15/03/2011)

The candidate for mayor of Lorca by the PSOE, Manuel Soler, said today that Lorca has lost a "golden opportunity" to become the headquarters of a major food, referring to the Mediterranean Food City, which has presented Valcárcel this morning.

The complex is located in Murcia with an investment of one hundred million euros and foresees the creation of 10,000 jobs.

Just a year ago, Jódar and PP councilors in municipal Plenum rejected a motion that the Socialists specifically requested that the City compete with other municipalities who chose to become headquarters of the Food City.

The reason is that Jódar had publicly pledged their support for the project is implemented in the neighboring town of Totana, arguing that it had to do, "region" and had to be above "core" and "navel-gazing."

For his part, Manuel Soler has dismissed as "irresponsible" attitude Jódar who recalled that "Lorca has 7,500 people unemployed" and that their obligation is to fight for their interests and not those of other populations.

In addition, Manuel Soler, recalled that Jódar also expressed support for the town of Alhama to host the project theme park Paramount.

Meanwhile, "here we sell a film of Chinese investment so far, has no semblance of reality," said the Socialist candidate for mayor.
