Manuel Soler calls on banks and a moratorium on the repayment of loans and mortgages for the victims of the earthquake (15/05/2011)

The socialist candidate for mayor, Manuel Soler, today called for a moratorium on banks to defer the payment of mortgages and loans to those affected by the two earthquakes in Lorca on 11 May.

Soler explained that, in the dramatic situation in which families are small and medium enterprises, who have lost or been seriously damaged their homes and businesses, "is not acceptable that those affected will be pressured to pay monthly fees These credits, when most of them are not going to generate revenue in the coming weeks and months. "

Taking advantage of today's visit to Lorca's financial vice president of Government Affairs, Elena Salgado, Soler has asked the central government to propose the moratorium banks and to facilitate the revival of economic activity in the municipality, and pointed out that 80 percent of the houses and shops of downtown have suffered any damage from the two earthquakes that rocked Wednesday Lorca.

Salgado is committed to raising this issue with financial institutions.

For the Socialist candidate, this measure would be a major break for beneficiaries who have "more neck" to meet its obligations to banks and savings banks.

In this regard, Manuel Soler explained that, in the same way that companies, NGOs, associations or private citizen, expressed their solidarity with the victims of earthquakes, banks could also offer a "gesture" that "probably not much but I suppose that those affected would be a great relief."

Manuel Soler also explained that the vice president is committed to managing the Insurance Compensation Consortium to increase the number of experts who must assess the damage in Lorca, trying to move from the initial one hundred to two hundred.

As Manuel Soler raised from the Government will enable the consortium to manage a temporary office in Lorca.

The socialist candidate has called for "flexibility" in the processing and payment of insurance for a period of fifteen days can begin to collect the first affected.

Finally, Manuel Soler, has launched a message of reassurance to the public, explaining that the figure shuffled by the Consortium for insurance payments are "indicative" and that ultimately is the product of all the ratings.

On the other hand, there is a decree of support for all those uninsured homes.
