The Community maintains active device and emergency care for those affected by earthquakes in Lorca (29/05/2011)

The medical staff has made ​​1805 medical visits since 11 May, 400 of them as a direct result of earthquakes

Psychologists have made ​​450 assists aimed at mitigating the psychological impact

The regional government remains active device and emergency care for those affected by the earthquake of May 11 in Lorca to deal with any incident quickly and effectively, performing shoring work and reinforcement of structures, to monitor the effects of earthquakes and support people affected by earthquakes.

Thus, the Community has deployed a team composed of 498 people daily, including Civil Defence volunteers, firefighters, medical personnel Emergency Management 061, psychologists, forest brigades, Mobile Command Unit to the Transfer and Communications Group, Canine Unit Rescue Services, mountain rescue group and experts from the Directorate General of Public Safety and Emergency.

In addition, some 243 vehicles and three helicopters of the autonomous administration in the city have worked to protect people and property and respond to the needs of those affected by this disaster.

These human and material resources are added to the local police, City Hall, Forces and State Security Forces, Government Office, Red Cross and nongovernmental organizations to expand the number of resources and more effective joint action of effective intervention in this emergency.

In total, the daily special device was made up of about 3,335 troops and 585 vehicles.

The special security plan has received more than 7,200 troops of the various emergency services local, regional and national enforcement agencies, all coordinated by the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety, which has developed specific programs aimed at coordination and planning of human and material resources.

Psychological care 450

One of the most important activities is the psychological care provided to victims and the families and friends of those killed.

A group of 100 psychologists has made 450 assists so far focused on alleviating the psychological impact after what happened, to prevent re-traumatization, prepare citizens in case of bad news to report, provide stability and ease the grieving process.

061 health personnel in Lorca has made since 11 May, a total of 1,805 medical consultations, 400 of them as a direct result of earthquakes.

Of that total, 155 people were taken to various hospitals in the Region of Murcia, of which three were seriously wounded and five serious.

Moreover, in the day when the earthquake took place was evacuated to a total of 392 hospital patients Virgin Rafael Mendez and the Alcazar.

Strengthening social care

The current line of work of the regional government focuses on strengthening the social care of victims staying at the temporary camp of the turret to try to meet their needs in different areas such as health and education, and improve their living conditions.

Thus, we have implemented remedial actions at the tents in the camp, drains, showers and sinks, and preventive measures to ensure sanitary conditions and prevent infection.
