459 Banesto employees collaborate on a campaign to help the victims of the earthquake (30/06/2011)

A total of 459 employees participated Banesto, through Caritas of Murcia, in an initiative to support the victims of the earthquake in Lorca.

The initiative, undertaken on a proposal from Banesto's own employees, has allowed a period of fifteen days to collect 18,465 euros among workers in this entity, an amount that has been duplicated by the Foundation Banesto in the framework of its Solidarity x 2.

Thanks to this extraordinary action will be allocated a total of 36,930 euros to various assistance programs that Caritas takes place here.

Caritas teams Lorca began collaborating with the emergency services from the day May 11, when two consecutive earthquakes of 4.4 and 5.1 magnitude on the Richter scale, struck the town of Murcia.

Caritas teams, composed of volunteers and staff of this organization, supported the census of affected population and assisted in food distribution and processing for more than a thousand affected had to stay in the camp qualified as a temporary shelter for the victims.

Once the emergency situation, Caritas has resumed school support and aid distribution in the neighborhood of San Cristobal and the distribution of food and support to families in the barrio of La Vina, who has been the most affected.

In the barrios of Los Angeles and El Carmen Caritas also serves a population of 550 families in need.
