The Local Government Committee approved the payment of property tax exemption to owners of 40,990 properties damaged by the earthquake of May 11 (29/07/2011)

This measure will benefit nearly all buildings in the village and those districts most affected by earthquakes.

The City will no longer enter 10,879,910.21 euros, an amount claimed for the central government.

Councillor of Economy of the City of Lorca, Luis Amador, has been reported that the Board of Governors approved a motion this morning that includes exempt from payment of Property Tax (IBI), known as a contribution to a total of 40,990 properties , which are located mostly in the urban municipality.

Amador said that these buildings represent a share of total revenues for 2011 of EUR 10,879,910.21.

In percentage terms, we're talking about 50% of all receipts, which represent about 70% of the revenue that the City gets for this item.

Therefore, from the city council will request compensation for this amount to the National Government (through the General Directorate of Territorial Estates Coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Finance) as established by Royal Decree Law 6 / 2011 of aid.

The mayor of Economy has stated further that these numbers will be increased by the new homes have been built along this year and be taxed for the first time in 2011.
