The nursing homes Sunday Sastre de Lorca already home to 77 inmates (10/08/2011)

In just three months, most inmates have returned to the residence after being relocated in different centers in the Region

The Minister of Health and Social Policy, María Ángeles Palacios, visited, accompanied by the Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, the largest residence Sunday Sastre, with ownership of the Instituto Murciano Social Action (IMAS), reopened after an initial phase rehabilitation after the earthquake of last May.

Three months after the earthquake 77 residents have been able to return to center after the reconstruction works in the basement, ground floor and the first six floors of the building which was damaged by the earthquake.

The regional government has invested 350,000 euros in setting up the building, which still requires refurbishment works on two floors.

The residence had at the time of the quake with 107 users, who have already returned 77.

Missing for 21 major who will return again in September, which are relocated to the homes of Santa Ana and San Basilio in Cartagena in Murcia.

The counselor explained that "we have to perform the renovation and rehabilitation in three months. It was very important for us to return to normal as soon as possible, and what we're getting to the reopening of the residence Sunday Sastre."

The largest of the residence Sunday Sastre, with capacity for 110 inmates and 40 seats by day, are the first to return to Lorca after earthquakes.

Users of the Residence San Diego, where the IMAS has hired 47 places remain Asprodes relocated to the residence, and residents of Alameda, where the IMAS has hired 100 people, are now relocated to the residence home in Santo Ángel ( Murcia).

As for day care centers, the center of the IMAS, severely affected by the earthquake, remains closed.

Users have been transferred to Puerto Lumbreras, although it is expected an increase of 20 seats for the return of residents in October to the day center of the apartment Sunday Sastre.

More than 3,000 places across the Region

The Ministry of Health and Social Policy through the IMAS manages more than 3,000 squares, houses with internal spaces and day centers for seniors throughout the region.

2355 places for residents and 932 places in day care centers, among themselves and agreed places.
