Security Councilmember of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez, reported that the Special Security Plan for this summer, introduced after the meeting of the Extraordinary Security convened by the mayor to the increase of empty homes this summer, is getting is reduced more than ever the number of crimes in the municipality.

Perez explained that "the decline in the number of reported crimes and misdemeanors in Lorca has been possible through close collaboration between the local police, the National Police and Civil Guard, which has allowed a substantial increase in the number of tests ".

The mayor reported that local police have specifically undertaken in this period 822 people and vehicle controls aimed at protecting public safety, 216 of which were performed in the center of the city, 352 in the neighborhoods of San Jose La Viña, El Carmen, San Fernando and San Antonio and 214 in the neighborhoods of San Cristobal, San Diego and Apollonia, which are joined by 40 others made in conjunction with the National Police.

This work led to the arrest of 18 people for allegedly criminal offenses, and the formulation of 48 complaints of violations of the ordinance on the protection of civic and prevention of antisocial activities, mostly for the alteration of public order, drinking in the street and begging.

Also facilitated the formulation of seven administrative complaints of possession of toxic drugs, narcotics or psychotropic substances.

In addition, municipal officials held more than 300 shares of targeted surveillance of buildings in red or yellow code, which identified more than 30 people acting suspiciously in the areas affected by earthquakes, of which seven were arrested.

"Although public safety is the sole responsibility of the State, to the increased need, the City Council has had to make a special effort this area also after the earthquakes, reinforcing foot patrols in charge of preventive work," said Councilwoman , who thanked "the effort being made by professionals in the service."

In the same vein, increasing pedestrian patrols has intensified surveillance in commercial areas, resulting in the identification of 5 people for burglary and two by a lack of damage.

Local police also continued to conduct surveillance of buildings in the state, serving in 182 buildings that were found in risk of falling debris in the road, parts of walls or other elements.

Finally, Perez explained that the municipal officers have assisted in these two and a half months to 115 vehicles involved in 69 accidents that occurred in the town between June and August 15.
