250,000 inhabitants of the town of Lorca, the region of Guadalentín and municipalities bordering the province of Almeria, have been affected directly and indirectly in their area of socioeconomic influence by earthquakes.
25,000 homes in the town of Lorca and districts have been affected.
More than 1,000 homes in the town of Lorca have been or will be demolished.
Eight schools have been closed and 13 schools badly damaged.
708 businesses, 50 companies and 85 industrial artisans were affected.
210 and 482 catering business service companies have been affected.
The Primary Care Center-Centro Lorca and of
La Viña
and San Diego have been closed.
More than ten percent of cultural heritage has been severely damaged or destroyed.
All sports facilities in the city have been damaged and need repair.
Total Needs
investment and financing
Total financing and investments needed for complete recovery of the city of Lorca and the return to normal life in the municipality amounts to 1650.5 million euros, which currently represent 34.4 per percent of the budget of the autonomous government, and 6.1 percent of regional GDP.
The total cost of direct and indirect damage caused by earthquakes amounted to 1201.5 million euros:
Overall figure for direct costs of EUR 955.7 million: Private homes, office buildings, shops, hotels, and cultural heritage.
Total number of indirect costs: 245.8 million euros: Household spending on goods and services, tourism, industry and professional services.
