City Council approves 239 Lorca aids families who have lost their homes for damage from earthquakes (23/08/2011)

The Local Government gives green light to new disbursement of almost 300,000 euros to facilitate the return to Lorca of families have lost everything or families with fewer resources to recover the damage from earthquakes, in addition to the destinations already announced for donations.

Municipal Communications Spokesperson of the City of Lorca, Mari Carmen Ruiz, reported that the city council has approved through the Local Government a new disbursement accounts owned by the City Council solidarity worth 299,310 euros to help 257 families affected by earthquakes.

Ruiz has stated that these agreements include a battery of 239 aid to families who have seen their dwellings demolished by earthquakes, involving a total amount of 275,400 euros and include non-refundable grants of between 800 and 1,500 euros, the number of members of the family or living unit.

Specifically, 77 families will receive 800 euros to have one or two members, 57 will receive 1,000 euros for having three members and 105 to 1,500 euros will be helped by having 4 or more members.

These figures were added, 18 repayable advances to three months of rental assistance, involving up to 1,500 per household and a total outlay of 23,910 euros to Lorca that many families still unable to return to their homes because of the earthquakes May 11 of the past.

The approved package advances now joins the already allocated 131,430 euros of funding from donations and benefits of solidarity events managed by the Bureau for Development and channels, of which 119 have benefited.

In this sense, Ruiz explained that the amount approved in the last agreements of the Local Government is subtracted from the more than 2,067,000 euros deposited in the accounts of the City of solidarity.

Ruiz pointed out that "unfortunately, the number of houses to be demolished is growing every day, so we had initially expected that the destiny of solidarity funds have been fortunately overwhelmed by a similar proportion to the increase in income, but This obliges us to continue asking for solidarity to everyone as they continue without government support.
