Councilman Sports City of Lorca, Agustin Llamas, this morning the initiatives that the social and economic municipality, together with the Consistory and the Regional Government in this area have been included within the "Lorca Plan 'to debate tomorrow the Congress of Deputies.

Llamas explained that "in order to achieve the development of sports facilities in the municipality after the earthquake and that the reduction of income that the City is suffering from earthquakes do not put a stop to improvement projects that are required to undertake in these facilities for smooth operation and optimization of resources, the Government of Spain claim that rush or fully subsidize these projects worth around 17 million euros that would run at a maximum of four annuities. "

The mayor explained that "practically all the sports facilities of the town were damaged as a result of the quake: Polideportivo de San José, Europe Sports Complex, Sports Complex and Ciudad Deportiva de La Torrecilla, Campo de Fútbol Alfonso muddy football pitch Francisco Artes Carrasco , Sports Facilities in the Barrio de San Antonio, and the Residence for Sports and beach volleyball courts. "

This has made it impossible for a few months the sport in the vast majority of installations, of which all but Complex Europe and parts of the turret and are working through the efforts of the City, but still need major improvement actions.

In addition, the need for total closure of the main sports facility, the complex Europe, which suffered major damage during earthquakes, prevents the proper functioning of dozens of sports clubs throughout the municipality, as well as physical activity by thousands of users of all age groups of the population, from swimming to babies to geriatric gymnastics.

And it impedes the realization of sporting events with an influx of people from other cities, which in turn limits economic development in terms of support for trade, hotels and even holding solidarity events.

Depending on the damage they have suffered various sports facilities estimated time for repair since the works contract is between one month and 15 months, at most, should be used in the complete repair of the Sports Complex Europe and representing an outlay of 3.6 million euros.

For its part, the necessary reform in the Ciudad Deportiva de La Torrecilla is a cost worth more than EUR 6.6 million, distributing the rest of the budget in other municipal facilities.

So far the council has managed to reopen after earthquake, indoor pool and sports center of the Barrio de San Antonio, Arts Carrasco Stadium, part of the Sports Complex of the turret, the Pavilions in San Jose and Alameda, as well as Sports House, although most of these facilities need to implement other improvement works to its operation is desired, some of which are running through the Plan for Employment of the Autonomous Community and the Department of Employment, the which have brought unemployment to hundreds of Lorca.

In fact, thanks to this program in the coming days will proceed to dig out the Sports Complex Europe, which also removed the inner elements that are more likely to fall off.
