XVII plenary meeting of the Sector Conference on Culture in Lorca (26/09/2011)

The Minister of Culture, Ángeles González-Sinde, today presided at the seventeenth plenary Lorca Sectorial Conference of Culture, which brings together officials from the Ministry of Culture and Cultural advisors and other representatives of the Autonomous Regions and Cities Ceuta and Melilla.

Before starting the meeting, President of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel said a few words of greeting to the audience.

Completed this formal ceremony, has begun meeting with the intervention of the Secretary of Culture, Mercedes del Palacio, who has reported the launch of Spain's Culture Portal, to promote cultural destinations abroad, which is accessible on the Internet.

Actions of the Ministry following the earthquake

One of the key points of the meeting was the report on the actions undertaken by the Ministry of Culture in the city of Lorca after the earthquake of May 11, with a total cost of 2,955,525.95 euros.

The performances have been: Emergency intervention in the Tower of Ram and the walls of the enclosure of the Castle (1.087.199.58 €) Parts Restoration Archaeological Museum (€ 67,424.00) Preparation of Master Plan (21181.00 €) funded projects with the funds of 1% in the Cultural Palace of Guevara on the wall of Lorca and the San Antonio Porch (total cost: € 1,684,721.37).

In addition, the Ministry of Culture has organized Days of Lorca Heritage at Risk, which begin today and conclude on Wednesday.

For the month of November is scheduled for Museums and Seismic Workshop, a workshop on preventive measures and emergency action in case of museums in earthquakes.

Circuits dance and popular music

During the meeting, several officials from the Ministry of Culture have been informed of the activities performed by the MCU in the framework of its various skills.

Regarding the National Institute of Dramatic Arts and Music (INAEM) has treaty on Stage Dance Circuit, whose 2010 edition took 11 companies (from five units).

For the 2011 edition is expected to participate in the circuit of 12 companies.

Have also been referred to the State Circuit Popular Music, which was co-organized by the INAEM and the most important and representative institutions of the sector.

Regarding the General Plan of the Circus, the drafting of the plan are now in the drafting of preliminary and content of the activities planned for this year.

Other topics of interest

Have also been made on the motion of the Senate that aims to develop and expand co-official languages ​​in audiovisual productions and on television, and on the processing of collaboration agreements with the regional governments to promote the production, distribution and promotion of industry co-official language film.

It has also highlighted the support of the MCU to film festivals in the Autonomous Communities.

It has been reported on the main activities developed in 2011 under the Plan for the Promotion of Reading, among which the Special Plan has Manning acknowledged.

As for the performances on digitization, have highlighted the works of recent years to deliver existing content in archives and public libraries across the Internet and have involved the creation of databases and calls for support for digitization.

Have also been exposed the outlines of the National Heritage Research, Spanish participation in European equity research and the establishment of an observatory to identify and disseminate current research in conservation and its impact on strengthening of the economy.

Other issues addressed were the Cultural Action Plan Abroad, the processing status of the Royal Decree that regulates the functioning of the Commission on Intellectual Property and the celebration of the Tercentenary of the National Library.

Resolutions adopted

The Plenary of the Sectorial Conference has approved maintaining the current criteria for regional representation on the Commissions assessment of competitive grants to convene the Ministry of Culture, except those called by the ICAA, who has proposed specific criteria for the establishment of evaluation committees for their support.

There is a renewed Second Vice Sectorial Conference of Culture has been called upon the Minister of Education, Culture and Universities of the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands.
