Members of the Associations of Friends of Museums in the Region of Murcia will be making a visit to the city of Lorca next Saturday, October 15, 2011, in order to show solidarity and brotherhood with the Association of Friends of Archaeological Museum and the city Lorca Lorca, because of the earthquakes on May 11, 2011 that caused serious damage in this city, its people and its cultural heritage, one of its main sources of wealth.
The Association of Friends of the Archaeological Museum of Lorca at the request of Joaquín Salmerón Juan, Delegate to the Region of Murcia of the Spanish Federation of Friends of Museums (EGF), will host the visit, arranging schedules and making guide.
This visit will assist Ana Luisa Delclaux, President of the Spanish Federation of Friends of Museums.
Lorca's mayor, Francisco Jodar Alonso, attendees will visit.
Subsequently conducted a guided tour of landmarks in the city's heritage as the house - palace of Moreno, which now houses the Municipal Archaeological Museum Lorca, Mula house, Convento de la Merced, San Antonio Porch, Guevara Palace, home of the Counts of San Julián, Casino, Theater War, the churches of San Mateo, Santiago, San Francisco and Santo Domingo.
The groups will be accompanied and cultural explanations of volunteers belonging to the Association of Friends of the Archaeological Museum of Lorca.
This visit to Lorca, which is estimated to be attended by over 300 members, also serve as a prelude to the celebration in March 2012 of the XX Congress of the Federation of Friends of Museums Españolade, which will take place in Lorca and Murcia , because of the earthquakes on 11 May.
