2.7 million for the urgent rehabilitation of two schools in Lorca (21/10/2011)

The Governing Council has learned of several actions that the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment has taken place in two Secondary Schools in Lorca were affected after the earthquakes of last May.

The implementation of the rehabilitation work, as a matter of emergency, these infrastructures have been made in education, has meant an investment of 2,717,665 euros.

The institutes which have developed these rehabilitation works are the Ibanez Martin, who has had a budget of 2,055,151 euros and Ramón Arcas Mecca, with 662,514 euros.

The Community has also funded the urgent rehabilitation Lorca in 12 schools affected by the earthquakes following the earthquake last May, including the school are Special Education Pilar Soubrier, Colleges and Primary Alfonso X the Wise, Juan Gonzalez, St. Kitts, Virgin de las Huertas, Jose Robles, Sacred Heart, San Jose and San Fernando, and Secondary Schools San Juan Bosco, No. 6 and Ros Giner.

The total amount of repairs in these 14 centers reached almost 6.5 million euros.

The Ministry of Education has worked hard all summer to tackle the most urgent work in schools that were affected by earthquakes in order to allow its opening in September with all the guarantees of security for the whole school community.

The regional government will continue working to recover all the educational heritage of Lorca affected by earthquakes, which will involve an investment of 20 million euros.
