The Mayor, Francisco Jodar, thanked the president of this organization, Pedro Lencina, who have decided to assist Lorca affected by the earthquakes in its annual initiative "Jumilla Wines Solidarity."
The Regulatory Council of Jumilla has donated 6,800 euros this morning the Bureau for Development of the City of Lorca to help those affected by earthquakes.
The Mayor, Francisco Jodar, thanked the president of this organization, Pedro Lencina, who have decided to assist Lorca affected by the earthquakes in its annual initiative "Jumilla Wines Solidarity", which in 2010 went to Caritas of Murcia and Albacete, while for 2011 have wanted to contribute to helping the city of Lorca after the May 11 earthquake.
The donation given jointly comes from the profits made by the Regulatory Board through the warehouse for delivery through the back labels attesting to the origin and quality of bottled wines under this appellation.
Specifically, during this year have been bottling 18 million units by the Regulatory Board.
Through this initiative, from the Designation of Origin Jumilla want to show that wine is much more than food, and represents the solidarity of winegrowers, cooperatives and winemakers.
The Designation of Origin Jumilla dates from 1966, in recognition of an ancient winemaking tradition, which covers seven municipalities: La Mancha and Jumilla Ontur, Tobarra Albatana, Montealegre del Castillo, Fuente Alamo and Hellin.
Its major export destinations include the markets of the United Kingdom and United States.
