22 GEA project volunteers work together this week to repair homes damaged by 3 earthquakes (09/12/2011)

Performed by unpaid family housing repairs dependent and economically disadvantaged and / or socially, in order to provide social rehabilitation services and arrangements of different kinds.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, along with Social Services Councillor Hall, Maria del Carmen Ruiz, has been reported that because of the damage to homes in the municipality, earthquakes occurred on 11 May in Lorca The GEA Volunteer Group, in coordination with the city council are taking place during this week to repair six of the fifteen houses to rehabilitate evaluated through the project entitled "Fudge Without Borders."

The mayor has said the GEA Group is a nonprofit association involving volunteer professionals of all specialties that make up the different performance between the teams which perform humanitarian and social activities, and have come to Lorca to make by unpaid repair houses damaged by earthquakes, dependent and economically disadvantaged families and / or socially, in order to provide social rehabilitation services and minor repairs in the homes of victims.

The Mayor explained that the houses in which they are carrying out repairs on the streets are located ironmonger, Secure and Traverse Corner Macho.

The houses with damage caused by the earthquakes of May 11, specifying in some cases repair and rehabilitation of a dependency of the house, contemplating the removal of architectural barriers because it is families with disabled members, dependents and / or diseases disabling, which can not undertake repairs on their own because it is well with low-income families (from minimum pensions or unemployment benefits for people with disabilities RAI)

It is noteworthy in this regard that the Project Team members displaced Fudge Without Borders Lorca, do not perceive any kind of economic return for the work they do, but the actions carried out, in this case housing repair earthquake victims involve a number of miscellaneous construction materials, maintenance personnel and travel, which will be made from the funds of the Bureau for Development.

This group and managed a total of 14 homes in our city during the month of August.
