The City Council has conducted more than 19,000 citizens care through home care services of the Department of Social Services (29/12/2011)

These are services whose main beneficiaries are elderly.

The services are home care, telecare, meals on wheels and respite care.

The objective for 2012 is increased from 12 to 30 the attentions in respite care and meals.

Councilwoman Social Services City of Lorca, Maria del Carmen Ruiz, has been reported that the city council has offered this year more than 19,000 citizens Lorca attention through various home care services.

Jódar Ruiz explained the tasks that these attentions are focused and have yielded figures this year.

The data are as follows:

Home Care Service: assistance is focused on collaborative tasks and support to carry out various tasks related to the domestic sphere.

We're talking about cleaning, housekeeping, laundry, boat, personal care and support during movement patterns (making purchases and visits, for example).

This service is provided according to the needs expressed by each citizen, counting those with some degree of personal autonomy.

The program's main objective is to assist in the retention of older people in their environment.

During this year there has been a monthly average of 222 attentions, which have changed by the arrival of aid relating to the Law Unit.

In these cases, continues to provide the service, although funding is paid by that standard.

Notably, in this sense, that due to the forced displacement because of the earthquake on May 11, had to halt aid to 14 users, proceeding to recover it so that on today and all have the normal formal assistance.

Entering figures, during 2011 have completed the above 222 monthly care, equivalent to annual attendance 2664, assuming 45,600 hours for the benefit of citizens.

Telecare Service: aimed at prevention and assistance to seniors and people with certain limitations that may suffer from falls or other incidents at home.

In those cases, a warning system that every citizen has, and through which he can contact Red Cross or with a family established for this purpose.

Through these notices also receive reminder information modes to supply special medications, medical appointments and others.

This will offer a service that users feel greater security and more accompanied.

It also provides assurance that there is always someone with whom to communicate, which is a fast and effective way to contact these people.

During 2011 there have been a total of 133 monthly care, assuming year 1596.

Meals on Wheels: The beneficiaries are mostly elderly people living alone, and that, therefore, need assistance preparing meals leg and in the provision of special diets for medical imperative (this is usually of cases of hypertension or diabetes).

This year we have made a total of 4380 care (12 day).

Respite care: This aid is focused on providing support tasks, and sometimes, personal hygiene, in order to relieve the usual caregiver.

Over 2011 have been paid 180 attention to this.

The Councillor of Social Services has stated further that by next year 2012 the Council works with the foresight to increase these attentions.

Specifically, the aim is for respite care services and meals can be passed daily attendance of 12 out of 30, which would mean about 11,000 attentions.

It is expected also to keep the number of users, which implies a real increase.

This is determined because an increasing number of beneficiaries of the Law Unit, so that the services now offered by the City Council will be offered by the standard.

The vacancies generated in this regard will be awarded to other citizens, so that more and more people (especially the group of older) who benefit from these services.
