The City of Lorca and the Autonomous Community start up two employment workshops to facilitate the employment of 50 Lorca (01/02/2012)

The student workers will specialize in painting, masonry, museology, gardening, documentation and geriatrics while helping to rehabilitate city-owned property, parks, archaeological and file as well as help nursing homes in the municipality.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, and the Minister for Education and Employment of the Autonomous Community Sotoca Constantine, inaugurated this morning the employment workshops Phoenix I and Phoenix II, with which the City will train 50 unemployed while Lorca receive a salary and develop projects for the benefit of the municipality.

Jodar explained that these two actions for the promotion of employment and occupational integration of Lorca are part of the Special Employment Plan that the City of Lorca is developing with funding from the Regional Government after the earthquakes, which are benefiting 430 unemployed the municipality, in addition to numerous training sessions.

The mayor explained that the participants are divided into six different work areas, targeting the improvement of municipal facilities damaged by earthquakes (as Lorca's People's University) specializing in the painting and masonry and green areas of the municipality's of Gardening.

Other participants will gain the recognition of museology assistant helping to restore the original state of the parts of the Municipal Archaeological Museum, the Assistant working in geriatric nursing homes, and the filing and documentation assistant who will perform practices in the Municipal Archives.

The student-workers, who charged € 1,122.45 / month, have been shortlisted by the Regional Employment and Training, while the management and teaching staff has been selected through a public offering.

The working of these professionals is 40 hours per week.

Finally, the Mayor and the Minister have visited some of the works with Lorca have been taken out of the strike after the earthquakes with the employment plan, such as the reform of which was located under the Early Intervention Center, which was just starting, the headquarters of the Department of Social Services along with the railway station, which is being finalized and Supplies Square, completed in summer.
