The Town Planning of the City of Lorca, Jose Joaquin Peñarrubia, has reported that the Municipal campaign continues with supervision and assistance in building facades.
This is a series of measures that has been carried to term and daily continuously since earthquakes were recorded last May in order to ensure the safety of the facades of buildings to avoid any incidents on the road public.
Peñarrubia explained that "we are studying the situation of all public roads, proceeding to act on the facades in which it detects any type of risk. In this sense it has articulated a protocol, which involved both by City Council through municipal technicians Urban Area, as with professionals in the consortium of firefighting and the local police. In recent days have been able to contemplate the actions that are carried in this regard particularly in the central streets ".
The Town Planning has urged all citizens and neighboring communities or owners, to contact municipal services if they detect any situation that may present a risk to pedestrians.
Peñarrubia noted that "the cooperation of citizens is key in these situations, because the neighbors know first hand the evolution of its buildings, as well as surrounding buildings. This collaboration will be a significant help to maintain safety on our streets. In fact we want to stress that communication between citizens and the City Council has already allowed us to act on several fronts of buildings, either individually or through neighboring communities. "
Peñarrubia thanked also the understanding shown by citizens before the inconveniences that involve these actions, especially his condition to traffic.
In this sense he anticipated that it is possible that there may be further interventions on facades in the coming days, dates on which to focus attention on the downtown area, as this area of ​​town is the scene of many events that attract many people.
Urban Councillor stressed that these reviews are being developed continuously, in fact has already been revised almost all the streets on several occasions.
The City Council encourages residents' associations and property owners to expedite the recovery and repair works to be carried out on the facades of their buildings.
3,200 visits in the last 3 months, at a rate of 150 per week
The task of the municipal officers are allowing intervention work on facades are made in advance.
Apart from the activities carried out immediately after the earthquake, during the last 3 months the municipal officers have made 3,200 visits to address specific incidents and neighboring communities.
Today, the pace is maintained is 150 visits per week, paying specific attention to different historic streets such as Calle Cava, and access to schools.
