UPTA Lorca boost in the presence of over 55 autonomous social networks with the assistance of the City (17/04/2012)

Councilmember Employment, Lali Ibarra, explained that this program will offer free online courses, which also can register unemployed over 55 years, preventing the citizens of the districts have to travel to training centers and adapting the training schedule to the availability of students.

Was presented today in the city of Lorca the program "Employment 2.0 'with the presence of the Councillor for Employment, Eulalia Ibarra, Secretary of Sector Policy of the Union of Professionals and Self-Employed in Spain (UPTA), Cesar Garcia, and Project Director FUNDETEC, Ana Alcolea.

"Using 2.0" is a project promoted by the UPTA, in collaboration with FUNDETEC, with the financing of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce under its National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation 2008-2011 [Plan Avanza2] and the European Union through the European Social Fund.

The project consists of the pilot experiments of completeness among which is framed now offers Lorca, aimed at promoting independent entrepreneurship and improve the competitiveness of the self / as over 55 years, through the incorporation of digital services individualized tools supported by Social Media, Online Marketing and Electronic Commerce and the provision of a service community for collective use, which will facilitate their full integration into the digital society and improving the quality of their employment and entrepreneurship.

Ibarra has highlighted the usefulness of training over the Internet in a municipality such as Lorca, which is the second largest in Spain, keeping the citizens of the districts have to travel to training centers and training schedule adapted to the availability of students.

This project is aimed at self-employed, micro businesses and unemployed people over 55 years and include among its objectives to promote entrepreneurship and self-consolidating existing businesses, encourage labor market participation of groups at risk of exclusion, simplify and enhance the citizens begin their relationship with eGovernment and publicize the benefits and applications of the use of digital services to increase professional visibility and business among others.

"We are at a stage in which the proper use of new technologies, and specifically the social networks can help in promoting our professional activities. But we face a situation where there is still 48% self-employed and entrepreneurs without access to new technologies, according to the data provided FUNDETEC report "the self-employed and the information society", with a percentage higher still among those over 55 years, "said Cesar Garcia, secretary of policy sectoral UPTA Spain.

It is precisely for this reason that the project has two distinct lines, Line Entrepreneurship, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and access to self-employment (over 55), and Line Consolidation, aimed at improving and strengthening self-employment the business.

The project, which started out in late 2010, will be active until mid-2013 and has been presented in different autonomous participants.
