The Queen Sofia Foundation shall inform the authorities of Lorca reconstruction projects approved by the Extraordinary Meeting of the Board chaired by His Majesty (11/07/2012)

The Queen Sofia Foundation shall inform the authorities of Lorca their reconstruction projects in this city, on the occasion of the visit by Her Majesty the Queen on Thursday to that location to open the Parador de Lorca.

The Board of the Queen Sofia Foundation recently approved funding for a number of actions amounting to EUR 271,618.32 to assist in the reconstruction of Lorca, after the earthquake that struck last year, within the three-year plan approved by the Foundation of His Majesty until 2015.

Specifically, 91,618.32 euros will be allocated to the non-profit San Diego Foundation for nursing homes in Lorca.

This comprehensive care center for elderly and specialized needs a financial contribution for equipment including furniture, switchboard, etc..

The Foundation has approved funding for the recovery of cultural heritage of Lorca.

These include the restoration project of the Palace Garden Ruano, a building belonging to the city of Lorca, museum use.

The cost of restoration amounts to 254,000 euros and the Foundation has approved an aid of € 60,000 for the current fiscal year.

The Foundation also allocated the amount of 60,000 euros to the project of restoration of the Conservatory of Music Narciso Yepes, whose damages are around 1,040,000 Euros.

Finally, the Board approved a further grant of 60,000 euros for the restoration project of the Church of Carmen, the cost of restoration amounts to 1,000,000 euros.

This series of financial aid made by the Queen Sofia Foundation, join the donation that His Majesty the King made the award given by the President of the Russian Federation for its "Outstanding Achievement in Humanitarian Activities", which amounted to 119,475 euros

The Queen Sofia Foundation

The Queen Sofia Foundation, established in May 1977, is a joint entity of charitable and cultural, nonprofit and permanent nature.
