The Department of Health provided this year 9 food handling courses for 400 Lorca (17/07/2012)

It is planned to provide a mass catering for October, another retail horticultural products and by November, and a confectionery, pastry, cakes and pastries that have not dated.

Each of these training activities offered places for 50 people.

The Councillor for Health of the City of Lorca, Antonia Lopez, has reported that this year the municipal area will provide 9 courses food handling to be attended by about 400 Lorca.

The mayor explained that in fact, have already conducted four courses catering for 211 people who attended one of horticultural products and retail trade involving 22 students, plus another meat establishments, which were 16 Lorca.

There are also plans to give one of catering for October, another retail horticultural products and by November, and a confectionery, pastry, cakes and pastries that have not dated.

Each of these training activities have a capacity for 50 people.

Lopez recalled that this training is accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Region and is essential to work in the hospitality industry, meat and grocery stores and supply of these training activities, adapts to the demands of citizens therefore can be eventually extended the number of courses scheduled throughout the year. "

Those interested in participating in these courses should contact the Department of Health, located in Plaza del Negrito, with a photocopy of ID card and pay the required fees (16.5 euros).

Lopez has stated that "the food handling courses fall within the broad range of courses offered by the City Council to improve the employability of Lorca. For this reason two of the courses catering made this year were given to students various programs of the Department of Employment. "

The objectives of these courses provide basic knowledge about good habits related to food handling and facilitate the provision of the certificate of manipulator, mandatory accreditation for training in this area.

Courses run for three days with sessions of two hours each day.

The assessment of knowledge acquired by students is done through written test or oral exam for those who have problems with reading comprehension.

The persons holding the food handler card dated after February 11, 2002 have to do a refresher course from 4 years and then every 2 years.

They are the same courses that make people want to get the license for the first time, the only difference is that do not test.
