The City of Lorca has distributed nearly € 840,000 in 174 grants for the reopening of businesses damaged by the earthquakes that were uninsured (27/07/2012)

Councilmember Management and Recovery after the earthquakes of the City of Lorca, Saturnina Martinez reported that the Local Government today gave its approval to the payment of eight grants worth more than € 42,890.58 for businesses affected by earthquakes of May 11, 2011 and at that time were uninsured.

In this way, and 174 are traders who will share the € 839,280 of these grants approved so far.

Martinez explained that "yesterday the commission reconvened Monitoring Plan to Promote Trade in Lorca, composed of representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, Ceclor and the City to evaluate the records that have arisen in the last week, after that the council made a call for applicants to submit all necessary documentation in order to avoid having to deny them aid for not having demonstrated compliance with the requirements. "

However, the mayor pointed out that "there are still 78 applicants for these grants that have not submitted all the papers and re-emphasize that if your records do not complete and will need to be resolved negatively, because they give you time to justify its proper use in Ministry ".

Also, remember that businesses that have already claimed the aid must prove that the money has been spent on the rehabilitation of the premises and that has opened the doors to the public in less than five months.

As you may recall this line of support was launched this year thanks to the collaboration of the Central Government and that until then had only lines of support for businesses insured.

In both cases the maximum grant awarded is 8,000 €.

In total, adding the aid cases approved by the committee and approved by the Joint Commission for commercial insurance, has already been given approval to 306 applications for assistance totaling € 1,531,542, of which 132 insurance available and distributed 691,542 euros.

Donation of € 30,000 to rehabilitate the Pilar College Soubrier

On the other hand, the Local Government Board approved signing an agreement with the Foundation Hesperia why the municipal coffers of this entity will receive 30,000 euros for the implementation of repairs to the facilities of the Public School Special Education Pilar Soubrier located in the neighborhood of La Viña.

The aim of these works is the rehabilitation of the damage caused as a result of earthquakes that occurred on May 11, 2012 in the only public school in the municipality where the studies are taught early childhood education and compulsory basic education for pupils with special educational needs

This agreement is the fulfillment of the commitment made to the mayor, Francisco Jodar, by Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia at the opening of FITUR that would work with this foundation that manages the grant funds they received from a particular action to promote social of the Spanish monarchy.

For the management of this contribution shall be constituted a committee comprising representatives of both parties hereto.

€ 120,000 to help rehabilitate the roan Garden and the Conservatory of Music

Finally, the Local Government Board approved signing an agreement with the Queen Sofia Foundation through which Lorca City Council will receive € 60,000 this year to help cover part of the restoration of the Palace Garden Ruano damage, the restoration total rises to 254,000 euros, and another 60,000 € to contribute to the project of restoring the damage Conservatory of Music Narciso Yepes, whose damage is valued at more than one million euros.
