Councillor for Economy and Finance of the City of Lorca, Luis Amador, wanted to respond to opposition groups on their criticism of the Municipal Budget for the year 2012 will be taken to Full Council on Monday 6 August.

Amador has described this Budget as "the best example of that can do more with less. In a very difficult time for the economy, from the Municipal Government Team have managed to produce a budget characterized by its financial balance. Although the economic situation has made city revenues falling significantly in recent years, the City Council continues to offer the best services to citizens. All this, moreover, without raising taxes a penny to Lorca. "

Amador stressed that "while many governments have chosen the easy to raise revenues by increasing taxes, in Lorca are aware that we can not raise the tax burden to our neighbors. Through continuous hard work of all the councils have managed to adjust the costs of renegotiating contracts through telephone, parks and gardens, rents, eliminate some of these, etc ... We maintain the same quality and quantity of citizen services and we do also spending less money. This is a excellent news. Moreover, thanks to the amounts that the City collects through the contributions of other administrations as the Autonomous Community, the State and European funds managed relieve the tax burden with which Lorca maintain municipal services. "

As for municipal debt, Amador stressed that "in 2007 it amounted globally to 105 million euros. This debt with banks and suppliers has been reduced considerably, but also through the Provider Payment Plan have alleviated many companies and freelancers who were having a hard time introducing 24'8 million in the local economy. "

As for the priorities of the budget, Amador stressed that "we place special emphasis on social policies to help those who are faring worse because of the crisis. Thus, the social and employment promotion will receive 9 million euros, more than 13% of the municipal budget, the City Council for the Lorca never leave alone with the difficulties. "

The mayor also stressed that "we do not forget investment, which will be made through other means of extra-budgetary funding, without going further Lorca Plan."

Amador concluded by noting that "Lorca will have real budgets, the best estimates that the City of the Sun may have at the moment, characterized by its balance, its support for those who are faring worse and, above all, to do more with less money without raising taxes to pay the Lorca religiously.
