The Councillor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, has reported that the city council has received a grant of € 200,000 from the Government of Spain to be used in improving the facilities of the Municipal Archaeological Museum, which suffered severe damage as a result of the earthquakes that registered the city last year.
The mayor of Culture noted that is nominative case of a grant for the city of Lorca, in particular for the Municipal Archaeological Museum aimed for the "new museology Conditioning and permanent exhibition of Lorca Municipal Archaeological Museum."
The works to be executed by this grant are: drafting the museum project, desk research, design, installation, fitting rooms, lighting, display cases and presentation execution, new signage and signage, graphics and audiovisual resources.
Sandra Martinez explained that this financial aid is included in the Master Plan of the Ministry of Culture, and its implementation will take place during 2013.
These reinvigorate both existing collections and pieces as to how to offer them to the public after two decades incorporating new elements from different archaeological sites found within our municipality.
Our goal is to celebrate the reopening of the museum within the twentieth anniversary as our city deserves.
For now, in this year we want to offer a special exhibition with 154 pieces restored by the Ministry of Culture and seismic cabinets we have achieved for this museum.
