The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, accompanied by the Councillor for Employment and Local Development City of Lorca, Lali Ibarra, has reported that the Local Government Board has approved the hiring process begin construction of the new civic center Quarter, which has been improved from a budget of 800,000 euros to another 1 million euros.
The construction project of Civic Center "San Cristobal" is framed in the Urban Initiative for Barrios Altos de Lorca, within the thematic area No. 6 called Infrastructure Services, and will be co-financed by FEDER funds from the European Union and the own Hall.
It is envisaged that the new building makes use of neighborhood associations and pensioners club San Diego neighborhoods and San Cristóbal, along with a social work unit, the office of municipal decentralization (in which you can make arrangements for registration, statistics ...) and Maj. care, along with computer rooms, a large auditorium and other training classes, for workshops and other activities.
While users during the work of this center will be able to continue to meet and conduct its activities, such as gymnastics workshops, crafts and craftsmanship, in the Mayor's Open Centre, located in the same square and soon be able to use some new dependencies are renovating.
The new building will be named Francisco Mendez, who donated the land for the construction of this equipment.
The proposed building is situated on a plot, designed by Lorca PGMO of equipment, with an area of ​​432.72 m2, bordering to the north with Volunteer Street, east to Huércal Overa Street and Gateway Road west.

On the first floor is accessed via a central lobby six classrooms or workshops, four offices and toilets for both sexes and disabled.

The building design takes into account the efficient management of energy and water, through ventilation and air conditioning systems with outdoor air use for free cooling, and a centralized computerized management system, using the which will monitor electricity consumption both HVAC and lighting
Ibarra has indicated that this new municipal work confirms the personal commitment of the Mayor, Francisco Jodar to improve and modernize the various infrastructures of San Cristóbal neighborhood that will benefit a total of 12,356 citizens.
