The Director of Roads, José Guijarro, today announced that this November will begin work on improving the road D-8, road between the town of Lorca and the coast, which have just been awarded by the Ministry of Works Public and Regional Planning.

The works of this road improvement will include widening the path radius curves and widening of the platform, in addition to fully replenish the firm between km 0 and 8.

In turn, "is totally renewed and beacon signaling and expanded drainage elements which will lead to a marked improvement in the way to respond to the needs of the town of Lorca in that area," explained the director.

José Guijarro said "this is a very important improvement of the road between the path-Lorca Valencians with Campo Lopez, along which more than 500,000 vehicles a year"

The contract is EUR 2,455,934 and have a lead time of 18 months.

Repair of rural roads Lorca

Moreover, Guijarro reported that the Community continues to collaborate with the City of Lorca in dealing with the repair of rural roads within its jurisdiction.

Thus, the Highways Agency has made available to the Consistory of Lorca two technical teams formed by civil engineers, technical engineers and Works TAs.

"Your task will be the drafting of technical documents necessary to define and evaluate the necessary repairs to municipally owned roads, damaged by the flood of September 28," said José Guijarro.
