The City will invest € 230,900 in the rehabilitation and upgrading of the building that houses the headquarters of Red Cross and "Songs and Dances of Lorca" (08/01/2013)

Councilman Contracting and Municipal Heritage City of Lorca, Francisco Garcia, reported this morning that the Consistory will make an investment of € 230,900.05 for the rehabilitation and improvement of the building that houses the headquarters of Red Cross and 'Chorus and Dances of Lorca ', Eugenio Ubeda street.

Implementation of the project will run for three months from the start of construction.

Garcia explained that "this building was insured by the City as a whole, but also had a Red Cross secure facilities that used, so it has reached an agreement by which the NGO is charged for damages suffered at its headquarters and therefore running the rehabilitation of the same, while the City Council to charge for the common areas and the headquarters of Lorca Songs and Dances ".

In this sense, between performances of the Consistory, at the request of Chorus and Dance Group is conducting a series of improvements to the building, is envisaged as installing new air conditioning and ventilation, a wooden parquet dance rehearsals, wardrobe for storage of costumes and a toilet for the disabled.

"It is a sign that the rehabilitation work following the earthquake that is making the City intended to have even better facilities than we had before May 11," said Garcia.

The building has a floor area of ​​ground floor and first floor 603.94 m² to 495.21 m², with a total of 1099.15 m.

The municipal project area covers all of the building envelope (ie walls, party walls and roofs) and the adequacy of internal room intended for Chorus and Dance, located on the ground floor, with an area of ​​407.28 m².

Francisco Garcia explained that "as a result of past earthquakes occurred, the main damage observed in the building are cracks and fissures factory facade and interior partitions, ceiling breaks the building; tiled widespread detachment, tears and misalignments exterior carpentry and glazing; dividing walls collapsed and danger of collapse, electrical and plumbing installations affected and numerous broken tiles on deck. "

The project involves repairing the damage mentioned above as well as the suitability of the Technical Building Code (CTE).

Exterior carpentry is replaced by simple glass made by a double glass carpentry improving thermal and acoustic insulation of the building.

Furthermore, the wiring is replaced by providing new efficient luminaire.

Similarly, the metal structure is protected from heat and fire extinguishers are placed both emergency lights.
