Limusa Lorca redoubles efforts to keep clean during Easter 2013 (26/03/2013)

The cleanup plan includes more than 90 people in daily street sweeping, flushing, replacement of containers, waste removal, distribution and removal of sand from the race, blowers and scrubbing, among others.

Councilman Environment of the City of Lorca, Melchor Morales, has reported that the device being developed during this Easter Limusa provides continuous work at street level along 24 hours a day through the full deployment of all technical and human resources in daily street cleaning and waste collection, the latter task is also being conducted 24 hours.

Morales stressed that, in addition, during the days when processions are carried out, along Avenida Juan Carlos I reinforced the device with twenty workers, whose work focuses on cleaning up the boxes and the different sections which includes the route of the parades.

The mayor of the Environment has indicated that workshops with biblical processions for the main race, Good Friday, Palm Sunday, Thursday and Friday, the operational concerns almost all the available work force, which are achieved ninety workers distributed in three shifts (morning, afternoon and evening).

In the mechanical, it has the technical support of five sweepers and vans to ensure the absence of all types of waste in the urban and historical-artistic, mainly in squares and streets, as during the holidays is recorded major tourist and vacation citizens and uninterrupted performance of a tanker truck through water washdown intended to alleviate the effects of heat flow and sanded areas.

For the removal of the sand after the celebration of Good Friday parade with members of the municipal company, which will join twenty external reinforcement workers.

The total cost of enforcement operations and removal of sand, changing the location of containers to clear the race and specialized external services is around 36,000 euros.

Morales explained that at the end of the parade of Good Friday, the device deployed by Limusa is dedicated to scouring the streets where it has located the race parades (and without sand) and adjacent, as well as mechanical and manual flushing other streets and squares of the historic center, with special mention for the service blowers, expiring air pressure above and below the boxes, so that waste accumulate at a single point for collection.
