Culture allocates 23 million euros to the recovery of historical and cultural heritage of Lorca (24/04/2013)

Cruz opened the Heritage Council to be held today and tomorrow in Lorca

The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, announced today that the Department will have a total of 23 million euros for the recovery of churches, palaces and other monuments Lorca, included in the Master Plan for the Recovery of Historical Heritage of Lorca whose monitoring committee met today in the municipality.

The investment is planned for the period 2013-2015.

Cruz announced the investment during the opening of the Heritage Council, which was accompanied by the Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage and Archives and Libraries of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, Jesus Prieto, and the mayor of Lorca Francisco Jodar.

The Minister of Culture of the Government of Murcia advocated "the need to invest in the assets at a time highlighting productive policies", as investments in equity "is one of the most productive and has a return through tourism and brand Spain ".

He stressed that "heritage is a state policy capable of supporting an area".

A structuring that occurs "in a natural way through the diversity of all peoples and in a completely sustainable," according to the director.

Similarly, Cruz said the city of Lorca as "paradigm of connection between society and cultural heritage" and highlighted the ability of heritage and cultural symbolic character to become "emblem of the recovery."

The art of embroidery for inclusion as intangible heritage

One of the topics to be discussed at the Heritage Council will candidacy representative list of intangible heritage of Unesco of 'The art of embroidery and its staging in biblical processions in Lorca'.

The regional government has already opened the file for declaration of a Cultural Heritage which is a prerequisite for his candidacy.

The National Plan and Intangible Heritage commemorative activities will be the single theme of the meeting to be held today and tomorrow.

Over these two days, also will be the presentation of the National Heritage Education, will discuss the Recovery Plan Lorca and consider proposals for nominations for the next World Heritage Committee, among others.
