Fifty students from Colegio San Cristobal de Lorca planted rosemary in Guadalentin river bank (05/06/2013)

The departments of Health, Parks and Gardens of the City of Lorca organize this activity together with Eroski San Diego, which will provide participants with a healthy breakfast.

The Councillor for Health and Consumer Affairs Council of Lorca, Antonia Lopez, Parks and Gardens, Angel Mecca, and the director of Eroski San Diego, Francisco Montes, have organized this morning, on the occasion of World Environment Day, a plantation rosemary on the river bank next to the mall, completed by more than fifty students of Colegio San Cristobal.

Lopez explained that "this activity will also provide participants with a healthy breakfast, to encourage school children to eat well and fruit juices. In this way, we get the double objective to care about respecting nature and care for your health ".

Meanwhile, Mecca has emphasized that "these actions are aimed at complementing the Plan of Action of the Local Agenda 21, Sustainable Development in the town".

The World Environment Day was established by the UN General Assembly, in its resolution of December 15, 1972 and is celebrated on June 5 every year.

Its main objectives are to motivate people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development, promote community role in changing attitudes towards environmental issues, and to promote cooperation for sustainable environment, as this will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future.
