Inauguration of the traveling exhibition "Traces of Jewish Culture in Lorca" at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Cordoba (14/06/2013)

The Aldermen of Tourism and Culture of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel and Sandra Martinez, along with the councilor of Heritage, Historic and nature of the Municipality of Cordoba, Rafael Jaen, inaugurate this exhibition present in the Royal Botanic Gardens of Cordoba June 14 to August 15.

From today, Friday, June 14, at 20:30 pm, will be starring cultural Lorca the Royal Botanic Gardens of Cordoba, for the opening of the temporary exhibition traveling "Traces of Jewish Culture in Lorca", organized by the Council of this town of Murcia, in collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens of Cordoba in these facilities.

This sample, from which the Royal Botanic Gardens, Cordoba is one of their headquarters itinerant aims to show the historical legacy, heritage and culture of the Jewish presence in the city of Lorca in medieval times.

The aim is to present not only the history of this community, but also disclose details of their daily lives, professional, religious or material culture, that is, enter into the intimacy of family life, day to day, the Jews who lived during the late Middle Ages in the Castle of Lorca.

The exhibition consists of five areas ranging from the Jewish Diaspora to the case of the Jewish castellated Lorca, exposed panels, and reflect how was the daily lives of these societies in the Middle Ages (with the synagogue as central space of religious life) and in the case of the Jewish discovered in Lorca Castle, a showcase reproductions exposed horizontal pieces found in archaeological excavations, a model of the synagogue uncovered along with two recreations of lamps, and a multimedia screen footage on the history of the Jewish quarter and synagogue lorquina recently joined the city's cultural visits.

It will complement the exhibition a conference after the opening of the same, with the title "The Jewish Lorca Castle in the light of the archaeological excavations" given by D.

Subsequently, "Traces of Jewish Culture in Lorca", which is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, held its tour to other venues in other Spanish regions to finally expose the synagogue of Lorca on the occasion of the activities the tenth anniversary of the launch of the Consortium for tourism and cultural development of Lorca.
