200 people from 6 groups from Italy, Colombia, Angola and Spain support the XXIV Festival City Folklore Embroidery Lorca Lorca's candidacy as a World Heritage Site (11/09/2013)

This event will be a novelty in the opening and closing of this international festival, to be held from 20 to 22 September to coincide with the first weekend of the Fair Great Lorca.

The intention of the promoters is that these events serve each year to foster a tradition Lorca.

The Councillor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, and the president of the Group of Songs and Dances of Lorca, Inmaculada Martinez de Miguel, presented this morning the XXIV edition of the International Folklore Festival 'Ciudad de Lorca', to be held from 20 to 22 September to coincide as usual with the first weekend of the Fair and Festival of Lorca.

Martinez stressed that "this year will be six groups active in this festival, one more than last year, taking the stage to over 200 people this year introduced new in the opening and closing acts of homage to the traditions Lorca, which aims to become annual, but on this first time will support the candidacy of Lorca embroidery and staging parades Easter biblicopasionales Lorca as intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO. "

This time will be a group of Sardinia, one from Colombia, one of Angola, one gang Extremadura and Totana Zarzadilla Animas which along with the hosts of Songs and Dances of Lorca will be received by the mayor, Francisco Jodar Ruano in the Garden on the 20th at 19:00.

From there, the groups will parade to the Mall of the Constitution, where around 20:30 hours will be held the opening ceremony and act all groups.

The program will continue, as usual, on Saturday 21 at 12:30 pm in the Loch Street 'Come dance', an activity that seeks to involve the public, interacting with dances from the different participating locations.

In the afternoon, from 19:00 in the Plaza Colón other action will close to the public in which all groups participate less Zarzadilla Animas Gang of Totana, who will star in the night with his performance in 'Folklore Live' at 21:00 hours in the Mall of the Constitution.

To conclude the program group will participate in the Nations Mass in honor of the patron saint of Lorca, the Virgen de las Huertas, and at 21:00 hours will be the closing event in the Alameda of the Constitution.

The council congratulated the members of the Songs and Dances of Lorca by "the efforts made year after year to bring forward this important event, which shows the roots of countries from all continents, plus remind ours."

The "City of Lorca" is full member of CIOFF (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals), an organization associated with UNESCO which ensures the quality and purity of these events and supports, therefore, the Festival Lorca as one of the most prestigious in our region, which so far have involved more than 60 countries around the world and almost all the Autonomous Communities.
