The tradition of embroidery Lorca, declared of Cultural Interest (14/02/2014)

The Cabinet has given its approval to the designation as a Site of Intangible Cultural Heritage of tradition embroidery Lorca.

Also protected are the real and personal property related to the tradition of embroidery.

The existing literature reveals the importance of the art of embroidery was in this city until the Renaissance.

A mid-sixteenth century, Lorca was an important production center embroidery, mainly for making garments for religious ornaments, well they were for the liturgy or worship.

Embroidery, whose inspiration the 'point figure' or 'needle painting' Italian, evolved during the nineteenth century through the biblical processions.

Specifically, after the ecclesiastical confiscation sculptures disappeared, so the brothers began to wear robes decorated in memory of moments in the biblical tradition.
